GitHub has made its REST API for Copilot model policies generally available. GET and PATCH endpoints let administrators retrieve and update policies at four levels: enterprises, enterprise teams, enterprise apps, and organizations. This provides a programmatic way to manage which Copilot models are available across a company.
Enterprise policies can also delegate model control to organizations in organization mode, or to teams and apps in enterprise teams mode. For companies managing multiple groups, the API provides a concrete automation option for model access settings. The available delegation structure depends on the enterprise mode in use.
