What is stored
Cookies are small records sent to this website. The theme uses local storage in your browser. Necessary storage is used only for the functions described below.
site_consent · Cookie choice- Your permissions, consent revision and save time, for 180 days. No visitor identifier. Signed, accessible only to the server.
csrftoken · Form security- Protects submitted forms from forgery. Up to one year; refreshed when forms are used.
site-theme · Appearance- Local storage remembers the light, dark or system theme until you reset it or clear browser data.
article_voter · Article feedback- Created only after you rate an article. A random browser identifier lets you change your vote for 180 days. Accessible only to the server.
sessionid · Sign-in and comments- Supports sign-in, protected pages and comment forms, including your unpublished comments. Reader sign-in lasts up to 30 days; other sessions may expire sooner.
reader-comment:<path> · Sign-in and comments- Keeps your unsent comment in this browser tab and server session while you sign in, without your name or email. Restoration expires after 30 minutes. Cleared on retrieval or when the tab or session ends.
commentail_guest_<site> · Guest comments- Created after email confirmation to remember this guest in this browser for up to 30 days. An opaque HttpOnly proof; the email stays on the server. Clearing browser data removes this recognition.
Optional services
Our own analytics works only with permission. The signed HttpOnly site_analytics cookie identifies this browser for up to 180 days and is removed when you withdraw. Pseudonymous events stay on this server for 183 days; daily totals remain without browser identifiers. Full IP addresses and user agents are not stored; short-lived keyed hashes limit abuse. Withdrawal stops new events but does not delete earlier statistics. Advertising and session replay are not used.
External media is disabled by default. Allowing it lets video providers receive your IP address and browser data and use their own storage under their policies. You can also follow a source link without enabling embeds here.
Withdrawing permission removes active players from this page and prevents new ones from loading. It cannot undo data already sent or clear cookies belonging to another website. Those can be removed through your browser settings.
