GPT-6.1 Terra becomes generally available in GitHub Copilot

GPT Terra Joins GitHub Copilot

Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users now have another model for agentic coding and terminal work: GPT-6.1 Terra. GitHub announced general availability on October 26, though rollout is gradual, so the model may not appear in the picker immediately.

Supported clients include VS Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, the cloud agent, JetBrains IDEs, and Xcode. GitHub positions Terra as a lower-cost option than GPT-6.1 Sol. Usage-based billing follows provider list pricing; the announcement does not supply specific rates.

GitHub says early tests showed more terminal and C# tasks solved than GPT-5.6 Terra, without publishing numerical results. Business and Enterprise access also depends on administrator-managed model policies.
