GitHub has made Copilot Fusion generally available on all Copilot plans. Developers select Fusion and a Standard, High, or Max effort level, while the system decides which models to use for each request. It is available in VS Code, the Copilot app, Copilot CLI, and JetBrains IDEs after updating the client.
Fusion can assign a task to one model, check a draft and escalate to a stronger model when needed, or involve another model to critique the response. Organizational policies restrict which models it can use.
Billing covers each model used at its standard rate. Paid-plan users temporarily receive a 30% discount on model costs when using Fusion; the announcement gives no end date for that offer.
