Stable Firefox 159, released on October 27, lets web developers use CSS scroll-driven animations without enabling flags. Property values follow a scroll container’s position rather than the usual document timeline, allowing interface animations to track the movement of page content.
The release also supports scoped custom element registries. A separate registry for a DOM subtree helps avoid definition collisions when multiple web components use the same element name. Developers can create a scoped registry with the CustomElementRegistry() constructor.
For WebGL 2, EXT_texture_norm16 is enabled by default where the graphics driver supports it. Its 16-bit normalized formats offer greater precision than 8-bit formats for data such as elevation maps and medical images. These milestones apply to Firefox; the supplied source does not establish cross-browser availability.
