Developers offering auto-renewable app subscriptions now have another distribution option: starting October 22, organizations and educational institutions can purchase multiple seats through Apple Business and Apple School Manager. Multiseat purchasing is enabled by default in App Store Connect unless the developer previously changed the setting; availability options remain adjustable.
Buyers pay for seats through a single In-App Purchase, assign them using existing device management tools, and can add or remove seats.
Apple also announced a separate step for group subscriptions: developers can configure and test purchases in a Sandbox Apple Account from October 28. The App Store launch, allowing people to buy seats and invite others, is planned for winter, with no exact date announced.
