Microsoft has added Quick machine recovery support to Windows Server 2025 with the October 2026 security update. The company describes the feature as a way to help restore devices affected by widespread boot problems. It uses the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) to search Windows Update for applicable remediations.
Administrators should check the configuration: cloud remediation is disabled by default on Windows Server 2025 and can be configured through Group Policy. Receiving the update therefore does not by itself enable cloud remediation. Microsoft's notice describes a search for applicable fixes; it does not promise recovery from every cause of boot failure.
