Developers on github.com can now use generally available GitHub Agentic Workflows to automate issue triage, CI failure analysis, documentation updates, and test writing with coding agents inside GitHub Actions. It is available on GitHub Free, Team, and Enterprise plans.
Automations are written in natural-language Markdown and compiled into standard Actions YAML. Workflows reuse existing runner groups and policy constraints. Developers can use Copilot or another coding agent; the default Copilot CLI engine requires a Copilot license.
Agents receive read-only permissions by default and run in sandboxed containers behind a network firewall. Proposed changes undergo output validation and a separate threat-detection job before application. General availability also adds support for self-hosted ARC runners with Docker-in-Docker.
