GitHub announced CodeQL compatibility changes: installing Xcode 27 makes traced extraction unavailable for C/C++, C#, Go, Java, Kotlin, and Swift. It may also be unavailable on macOS 27. GitHub attributes this to Intel code being removed from certain system binaries and libraries that CodeQL needs for tracing.
Swift 6.4 is unsupported on every platform. For Swift analysis and traced builds, GitHub recommends pinning macOS and Xcode to version 26 or earlier, explicitly selecting the runner image and toolchain in GitHub Actions.
C/C++, C#, and Java users can switch to build mode none, which requires no build tracing. CodeQL support for Intel Macs is scheduled for deprecation in mid-December 2026.
