Python ships security updates following the eMudhra / emSign incident

Python Refreshes Trusted Certificates

Python 3.15.1, 3.14.9 and 3.13.17 are available, giving developers and administrators updated certificates in bundled pip following the eMudhra / emSign incident. All three releases include pip 26.2.2 with certifi 2026.10.19. Installers were specially provided for Python 3.13, which recently entered security-only maintenance.

Existing virtual environments need separate attention: the Python team asks users to upgrade pip and uv to their latest versions in every environment. The announcement provides a direct pip wheel URL with a SHA-256 hash and certificate-update instructions for macOS installations when upgrading Python immediately is impractical.

The macOS installers also fix a possible hang affecting tkinter applications, including IDLE, on macOS 27.0. This fix uses a pre-release version of Tk.
